Newzik lets you turn pages using facial gestures, which can be handy if you can't use your hands or feet (BT pedal) while playing.
Activation
This feature can be enabled in the Page Turn settings sub-menu (from the main settings or from the score view).
From there, you can enable the "Quick access button" which will allow you to easily enable/disable the facial tracking from the Score view :
Modes
You can choose between two ways for turning the page, either by winking, or by moving your lips to the left or right:
You can activate this feature in the Page Turn settings sub-menu (from the main settings or from the score view).
Here is the typical mouth movement that triggers a page turn:
Settings
Other settings can be found in this section:
- Backward Navigation : enable/disable page turns to the left
- Invert : invert the effect of left and right gestures
- Long eye wink (in "Eye wink" mode only) : this setting requires a wink to last at least 150 ms in order to be taken into account (It reduces the risk of having false detections).
Sensitivity calibration
The sensitivity sliders lets you adjust the sensitivity of the left and right gestures and test their effect on the rounded indicators at the bottom.
Positioning
To make the most of facial gesture detection, you need to ensure that your device is correctly positioned so that your face is fully visible from the front camera.
When your camera is oriented in portrait mode, it can sometimes be useful to rotate it to place the camera at the bottom of the screen (for example, on piano stands, which are often very high).
In landscape, you can choose to place the camera on the right of the screen to prioritize gestures to the right.
Note : This feature can only run on devices whose front-facing camera is a TrueDepth camera (see here which Apple models are concerned).
Note : this feature is only available to users with a Newzik Premium license.
