The public domain search feature lets you browse and import sheet music coming from the largest public domain online platforms, such as the International Music Score Library Project (IMSLP) or the Choral Public Domain Library (CPDL).


You can access this public domain search from the Home screen :




And from the Import View :




In addition to directly creating a piece in your Newzik library, we automatically record the name of the composer and the full title of the work!



How to import IMSLP sheet music?


 When you enter into IMSLP website via Newzik:

  1. Click on the download arrow or on the title work 
  2. Wait for 15 seconds
  3. Click on the download link
  4. View the sheet music
  5. Import in Newzik


IMSLP is one of the largest and most recognized online platforms for copyright-free sheet music with over 100,000 different works.

How to import CPDL sheet music?


 

When you enter into CPDL website via Newzik:

  1. Click on the PDF icon 
  2. View the sheet music
  3. Import in Newzik


CPDL offers a wide selection of PDF scores for voice and choir, as well as texts, translations and other useful information for performers.

What does “Public Domain” mean? ©

The public domain is made up of all works that are no longer protected by copyright. A score in the public domain can therefore be used freely and without charge.

 

In general, a work enters the public domain 70 years after the death of the composer. But be careful, there are many exceptions depending on the country concerned.
